Charity Series of Poker Event #14 | Borgata, Atlantic City
The Borgata Hotel, Casino, and Spa played host to the 14th Charity Series of Poker event on January 27, 2018 and it was a night that attendees won’t soon forget. Players had a great time playing for large cash prizes, but more important the Community FoodBank of NJ’s Southern Branch received $100 from each entry which they can use to supply 300 meals to people, families, and children in need in the New Jersey area.
All tournament players were invited to attend a special reception before the event at Borgata’s famous Gypsy Bar. Players were treated to an open bar of top-shelf drinks and hors-d’oeuvres courtesy of Borgata and we thank them for their generosity as they continue to aid us in supporting worthy causes.
The tournament drew 86 entries and raised $8,600 which the Community FoodBank of New Jersey will use to provide more than 25,000 meals. We like to thank CFBNJ for the great work they do and the way they stretch every dollar. We’re proud to be able to support such a worthy and effective organization!
The pace of play was fast and furious as always in the event. Several players were doing their best to lose their chips and re-enter to raise even more money for the charity, but affectionate “Biggest Loser” award went to TJ Shulman, a dedicated supporter of CSOP who finished second in this very event a year earlier.
On the other end of the spectrum, Tommy Bates was rewarded with $1,000 for being the chip leader when the smoke cleared at the end of the re-entry period and also managed to claw his way to a 2nd place finish in the event. Tommy has been a huge CSOP supporter from the start and we appreciate it!
We’d like to congratulate event champion Mark Kaganovsky and thank Borgata as well as everybody who came out to make our fourth annual Charity Series of Poker Borgata event a success! Special shout out Eric “Barstool Nate” Nathan of Barstool Sports for joining us as well. We couldn’t make these events a success without all of your support!
